About me

Julius Buchanan

My name is Julius Buchanan, and at a young age I realized I had a passion for helping others, whether that was volunteering at my local food drive or helping my father take extra waters from the car dealership; either way I knew I wanted to help people. 

I recently graduated from Dordt University in 2022 with a Master’s degree in Social Work and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (2020). 

I am an anime enthusiast. I also have a passion for fitness and wellness as I played football during my High School years and all throughout my college career. 

Counseling Style

I have a down to earth person-centered approach to my counseling style. This encourages clients to recognize their own strengths and abilities to heal, grow, while establishing healthy boundaries. I provide positive reassurance and honesty to help facilitate client centered communication about client concerns. Through active listening skills, my approach engages with the client to understand the client’s needs, which enables us to develop a plan moving forward.

Here at Training Grace, you will be met with genuine love and compassion as we navigate your sessions. Our top priority is empowering our clients to feel safe and comfortable in expressing their concerns. In doing so, this enables the client to utilize grace with themselves, and recognize possible solutions through their strengths. This focus then aims to equip the client with methods that will contribute to a joyful and healthy balanced mindset.

Individuals

Individual therapy involves open, confidential, and collaborative conversations which aim towards personal growth and well-being. You can expect to discuss your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, while working on identifying and addressing challenges. Our session will be goal oriented., and we will focus on developing coping strategies. We will also explore various therapeutic approaches based on your needs and goals.

Couples

In couple therapy, you and your partner can expect to explore and address issues in your relationship. I will facilitate effective communication to help you understand each other's perspectives. We will also implement various tools to improve your connection. Expect to work collaboratively on issues like communication patterns, conflict resolution, and building a stronger emotional bond. The goal is to enhance the relationship and promote a healthier, more satisfying connection and understanding between you and your partner.

Family

In group therapy, you will participate in sessions with a small group with shared or similar concerns. Our aim during our sessions is to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and normalize traumatic experiences. I will guide discussions, fostering mutual support and shared insights. Expect open and respectful dialogue, exploration of family dynamics, and collaborative problem-solving. During our sessions a safe environment will be fostered, promoting respect and dignity.

Life Coaching

In our life coaching sessions you can expect personalized guidance. In our time we will focus on goal-setting assistance. I am here to support in various aspects of your life such as: your career, family life, health, education, sports, and more.

Together we will identify and overcome challenges, and develop plans prioritizing your overall well being. I will provide motivation, and work with you to achieve your desired outcomes. Finally, our sessions will deepen into a self-discovery and  empowerment journey.
